12 Foods You Should Never Put In The Refrigerator

This was in the refrigerator, how did it rot so fast? At some point in your life you must have asked yourself that, right? The refrigerator helps us to better conserve some raw and prepared foods, that can quickly rot if left in room temperature. However, not every kind of food should be kept in the refrigerator. Do you want to know what foods you shouldn't keep in your refrigerator?

 Check it out:

1) Banana
This is a very cold sensitive fruit, so it
is better to keep it at room temperature.

Like bananas, tomatoes must be kept outside
of the refrigerator.
Remember to put them in a fruit bowl with
their top down, because this will maintain
its natural flavor for a longer period.

3) Onion and Garlic
Never put onions and garlic in the refrigerator
as it may compromise their flavor and properties.
We have already made a video teaching how
to store your onions correctly.

4) Potato
Potato should not be stored in the refrigerator
as the starch turns into sugar, changing not only their flavor, but their color and texture.
A cool, airy and dark place is ideal, such
as an open paper bag inside a storeroom.

5) Honey
Honey preserves itself in a natural way, so
it is not necessary to put it in the refrigerator,
even after you have opened it.
Just close the jar tightly and keep it in
a storeroom or kitchen cupboard, preferably
in the dark.

6) Egg
Have you ever noticed that eggs are always
in fresh surroundings, along with fruits and vegetables in the supermarkets?
Eggs absorb the smell of other products that are kept around them, which can affect their taste, so it is better to keep them away from other products and outside the refrigerator.
7) Pepper
Canned pepper pot, whether open or closed,
should be kept outside the refrigerator.
It can often last up to three years, as it
has ingredients that preserve it, such as
vinegar and olive oil.

8) Melons and watermelons
Do not keep these fruits in the refrigerator if you want to keep your antioxidants intact.
However, after they have been cut, they can
be stored in the refrigerator for up to four days.

9) Strawberries
If the strawberries are recently harvested,
store them at ambient temperature and consume them fast.
To make them last a few more days, you can
keep them in the refrigerator, but there is
a risk of mold.

10) Oils
Did you know that oils get thick and cloudy
when kept in the refrigerator?
The only type that can be kept in the refrigerator is walnut oil.

11) Citrus fruits
The best way to preserve citrus fruits (like lemons and oranges) is out of the refrigerator.
However, it is crucial to leave them in a
dry and well-ventilated environment.

12) Basil
Do not place basil in the refrigerator.
Instead do the following: Wash it, let it
dry and make a diagonal cut in the stems,
then keep it in a glass of water covered with a sachet.
